Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and spray a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray.

  2. For an optional glaze, whisk together 4 tablespoons ketchup, 4 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce; refrigerate.

  3. In a large bowl, combine 2 pounds ground beef, 2 lightly beaten large eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup plain dry breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons minced dried onions (or 1/2 cup finely minced fresh onion), 1 1/2 teaspoons burger seasoning (or 1 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper), and 1/2 cup ketchup.

  4. Mix thoroughly, then pack the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Place the pan on a baking sheet.

  5. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

  6. Carefully drain excess fat from the pan.

  7. Spread the prepared glaze or 4 tablespoons of ketchup over the loaf. Continue baking for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 F.

  8. Remove the meatloaf from the oven, tent with aluminum foil, and let rest for at least 10 minutes.

  9. Slice and serve.
