Easy Classic French Beignets

A simple, no-yeast beignet recipe creates fried choux fritters that are generously dusted with sugar.

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep pot to 375°F.

  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter in water over medium-high heat.

  3. Quickly stir in salt and flour until a sticky batter forms, then remove from heat.

  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until the batter is smooth.

  5. Fry mounded teaspoons of dough, several at a time, for approximately 6 minutes or until golden brown, flipping to ensure even cooking.

  6. Drain beignets on paper towels for a few minutes.

  7. Dust with confectioners' sugar and serve warm.
