Easy Cheddar Cheese Sauce

Instructions

  1. Melt 3 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat. Remove from heat, then stir in 3 tablespoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.

  2. Return to heat and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.

  3. Gradually add 1 1/2 cups milk, stirring until well combined.

  4. Continue cooking and stirring until thickened and smooth. Reduce heat to low; simmer, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes.

  5. Stir in 1 cup grated cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

  6. Taste and adjust seasoning; serve immediately.
