Easy Beef Cube Steak

Season the cube steaks generously with salt and pepper.

Melt butter in a large skillet; cook the onions until translucent (8-10 minutes), then add mushrooms (if using) and sauté for another 10 minutes until the onions are caramelized and mushroom liquid evaporates.

Push the vegetables aside and add the seasoned cube steaks, cooking them quickly for 2 to 3 minutes per side until done, adding more butter if necessary and cooking in batches if required.

Portion the cube steaks with the caramelized onions and mushrooms, drizzling any accumulated pan juices over the meat.
