Easy and Delicious Fruit Scones

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C fan) and generously grease a baking sheet with butter and flour.

  2. Sieve flour into a bowl, then add cubed butter, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Rub butter into the flour until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

  4. Stir in sugar and dried fruits.

  5. Form a well in the center and mix in milk with a knife until a soft, pliable dough forms, adding flour if sticky.

  6. Turn dough onto a floured board and lightly knead until smooth.

  7. Roll out the dough to 3/4-inch thickness and cut into 2-inch rounds or triangles.

  8. Whisk 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons milk to create an egg wash.

  9. Place scones on the prepared baking tray and brush with egg wash.

  10. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and well risen.

  11. Cool on a wire rack.
