Instructions

  1. Freeze unwrapped candy bars on a parchment-lined sheet for at least two hours until solid.

  2. Pour 3 inches of vegetable oil into a heavy-bottomed pan, insert a thermometer, and heat to 375 F.

  3. Place 1/2 cup of flour in a shallow bowl; in another bowl, combine 1 cup flour with baking soda and salt.

  4. Whisk milk, vinegar, and oil, then add this mixture to the 1 cup flour mixture until the batter is smooth.

  5. Dredge a frozen candy bar in the 1/2 cup flour, then fully coat it in the prepared batter.

  6. Carefully place the battered candy bar into the 375 F oil, pressing it down gently if it floats.

  7. Fry until golden brown, then remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

  8. Repeat with remaining candy bars, monitoring and adjusting oil temperature as needed.

  9. Allow the fried candy bars to cool slightly, then dust with confectioners' sugar and serve warm.
