Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and butter a 2 to 2 1/2-quart baking dish.

  2. Combine mashed sweet potatoes, eggs, granulated sugar, milk, salt, half of the softened butter, and vanilla in a bowl; mix thoroughly.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, nuts, and the remaining butter.

  4. Stir half of the pecan mixture into the sweet potato mixture.

  5. Spoon the sweet potato mixture into the prepared dish and sprinkle with the remaining pecan mixture.

  6. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, until the topping browns and the filling sets.
