Crockpot Hot Apple Cider (Wassail)

Instructions

  1. Combine 12 cups apple cider, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice, and 3 cinnamon sticks in a 4- to 5-quart slow cooker.

  2. Press 5 whole cloves into one small orange, then add it to the slow cooker.

  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

  4. Serve warm, optionally garnished with whole star anise, cinnamon sticks, orange slices, or apple slices.
