Crockpot Chicken Gets a Spicy Vibe With Dry Rub

Instructions

  1. Combine paprika, thyme, sage, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, and lemon pepper for the dry rub.

  2. Apply the dry rub evenly to both sides of the chicken thighs and legs, pressing gently.

  3. Lightly grease a heat-proof slow cooker insert; otherwise, prepare a heavy skillet for browning.

  4. Place chicken skin-side down in the prepared insert or skillet, then brown on medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes.

  5. Flip the chicken pieces and brown for an additional 5 minutes.

  6. Return the browned chicken (and insert, if removed) to the slow cooker base.

  7. Cover and set the slow cooker to "High" or "Low".

  8. Cook for 2 hours on "High", or 3 1/2 to 4 hours on "Low".
