Crock Pot Split Pea Soup

Instructions

  1. Layer split peas, ham, carrots, onion, celery, garlic, bay leaf, parsley, pepper, and salt in a slow cooker; then add water or stock without stirring.

  2. Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 8-10 hours, until peas are soft and ham separates from the bone.

  3. Remove the ham from bones, chop the meat, and discard the bay leaf.

  4. Slightly mash or blend the peas to thicken the soup, then stir in the chopped meat and serve.
