Crock Pot Smothered Steak

A tender smothered steak dish, featuring tomatoes and peppers, can be made in a slow cooker with sirloin tips, chuck, or round steak.

Instructions

  1. Place steak pieces in a bag with flour and shake to coat.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or stovetop-safe slow cooker insert over medium-high heat. Brown the floured steak on all sides, then transfer it to the slow cooker insert if using a separate skillet.

  3. To the steak, add bell pepper, sliced onion, and optional drained mushrooms.

  4. Combine tomatoes with soy sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and optional crushed pepper; pour this mixture over the steak and vegetables.

  5. Cover and cook in the slow cooker for 6 to 8 hours on low, or 4 to 5 hours on high.
