Crock Pot Pork Shoulder for Pulled-Pork Sandwiches

Instructions

  1. Place a 4 to 7-pound pork shoulder in a slow cooker with 1/4 cup water, a dash of kosher salt, a dash of black pepper, and optionally 1 large chopped onion.

  2. Cook on high for 1 hour, then reduce heat to low and continue cooking for 7 to 9 hours until very tender.

  3. Remove the pork roast, discard fat and juices, then chop or shred the meat and return it to the slow cooker.

  4. Stir 1/2 to 1 cup of barbecue sauce into the pork.

  5. Cover and cook on low for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until hot.

  6. Serve the pulled pork on warm sandwich buns with coleslaw and extra barbecue sauce on the side.
