Crock Pot Pinto Beans and Ham

Instructions

  1. Soak dried pinto beans overnight in a large bowl covered with approximately 2 inches of water, then drain.

  2. Transfer the drained beans to a large pot, cover with fresh water, and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes until just tender, then drain again.

  3. Place the simmered beans into a 5- or 6-quart slow cooker with 3 cups of water and all remaining ingredients, excluding salt.

  4. Cook on the low setting for 4 to 6 hours until soft, stirring a couple of times and adding more water if necessary; add salt to taste.
