Crock Pot Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls With Sauerkraut Recipe

Instructions

  1. Boil water for blanching the cabbage.

  2. Core the cabbage, place it in a large bowl, then pour boiling water over it to cover. Let it stand for 5 minutes until wilted. Drain, remove whole leaves, and trim off heavy stems.

  3. Combine ground meats, chopped onion, rice, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika for the filling.

  4. Place 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf, fold in the sides, roll up, and arrange seam-side down in the slow cooker.

  5. Spread the drained sauerkraut over the cabbage rolls.

  6. Combine tomato juice and water, then pour this mixture over the cabbage rolls.

  7. Cover the pot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

  8. Transfer the cooked cabbage rolls to a warm platter.

  9. Whisk 1/2 cup of the cooking broth with sour cream, then pour this sauce over the cabbage rolls.

  10. Serve.
