Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  2. Arrange 1/3 of the sliced potatoes in the dish, slightly overlapping them; then scatter 1/3 cup ham (if using).

  3. Season with salt and pepper, sprinkle with 1/3 of the minced parsley, and dot with 1/3 of the butter.

  4. Repeat the layering process described in the previous two steps two more times.

  5. Finish by sprinkling the top layer with cheese and paprika (if using).

  6. Whisk 1/2 cup milk with sweet rice flour until smooth, then add the remaining milk and whisk again.

  7. Pour the milk mixture over the potatoes, adding more milk if necessary to just cover them.

  8. Bake for about 1 hour, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.

  9. Allow the dish to stand for 20 minutes before serving.
