Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a 9-inch-square or 11x7-inch baking dish.

  2. Combine torn bread, cranberries, orange zest, and orange juice in a large bowl.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk vanilla, melted butter, warmed half-and-half, and eggs, then pour this mixture over the bread.

  4. Stir in sugar and let the bread soak for 5 minutes.

  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.

  6. Place the baking dish into a larger pan on an oven rack, then add 1/2 inch of hot water to the larger pan.

  7. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the pudding is set.

  8. Serve with vanilla sauce, whiskey sauce, or heavy cream.
