Cottage Pie

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and grease a 2-quart baking dish.

  2. Sauté onion in olive oil in a large skillet until softened and browned, then add beef and butter, cooking for an additional minute.

  3. Stir in flour until blended, then incorporate beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, peas, carrots, salt, and pepper.

  4. Spoon the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish.

  5. Warm mashed potatoes with butter or milk if needed, then combine with sour cream and cheese.

  6. Spread the potato mixture evenly over the beef layer and sprinkle with paprika.

  7. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes until hot and bubbly; for a browned top, broil briefly for 1-2 minutes, monitoring closely.
