Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan and dust with flour, tapping out excess.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, oil, and sugars. Add eggs, egg yolk, corn syrup, and vanilla; whisk until creamy (about 5 minutes).

  3. In a separate small bowl, combine cocoa powder, flour, and salt.

  4. Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread into an even layer.

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.

  7. Cool brownies in the pan for 15 minutes, then loosen edges and invert onto a parchment-lined rack to cool completely (about 45 minutes).

  8. For the ganache, heat cream in a microwave-safe bowl for 30 seconds. Stir in corn syrup, vanilla, and salt.

  9. Add chocolate chips, let sit 1 minute, then stir. Microwave in 15-20 second intervals, stirring between, until smooth and shiny.

  10. Pour and spread ganache evenly over the cooled brownies.

  11. Sprinkle with colorful candy bits, then refrigerate until the ganache is set. Slice into 16 brownies.
