Corned Beef Recipe (Made From Cured Brisket of Beef)

Homemade corned beef is easily prepared using a cured brisket and a few hours of slow cooking in a large pot.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 F.

  2. Rinse the cured brisket, then place it fat-side down in a heavy pot or Dutch oven; cover with cold water and add other ingredients.

  3. Bring the liquid to a near boil on the stovetop, then cover the pot and transfer it to the oven for 3 hours.

  4. Optionally, add potatoes, carrots, and cabbage during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

  5. For sandwiches or hash, cool the beef in its cooking liquid before refrigerating, then slice against the grain.
