Copycat Shake and Bake Coating

A simple copycat crispy coating for chicken breasts that replicates a popular boxed mix.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.

  2. In a shallow bowl, thoroughly combine cornflake crumbs, wheat germ, flour, sesame seeds, paprika, mustard powder, sugar, garlic salt, onion salt, pepper, and parsley flakes.

  3. In a separate shallow bowl, beat the egg with milk.

  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg mixture, then into the coating, pressing to ensure full coverage.

  5. Let the coated chicken stand on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

  6. Place chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 18 to 24 minutes at 400 F, or until an internal temperature of 160 F is reached.

  7. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
