Copycat Applebee's Quesadilla Burgers

A savory quesadilla burger recipe, similar to a popular restaurant offering, features cheese quesadillas as the buns.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 F.

  2. Combine ground beef with chili powder, garlic or garlic powder, salt, and pepper; shape into 4 burgers and refrigerate.

  3. If desired, trim street-size tortillas to a 4-inch diameter.

  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Brush one side of a tortilla with oil, place it oiled-side down, then top with shredded cheese and pico de gallo or diced tomato.

  5. Oil one side of a second tortilla, place it oiled-side up over the cheese, and cook until the bottom is browned. Flip and brown the other side.

  6. Transfer the finished quesadilla to a baking sheet and keep warm in the oven. Repeat this process to make 8 mini quesadillas.

  7. Fry the burgers for 5 to 7 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.

  8. Assemble the burgers using the quesadillas as buns, adding shredded lettuce, extra cheese, or salsa if preferred.

  9. Serve with guacamole, sour cream, or taco sauce.
