Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Cream butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg and almond or vanilla extract.

  4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually beat into the butter mixture until incorporated.

  5. Load the cookie press with dough and press cookies 1-inch apart onto an ungreased sheet.

  6. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until edges are light brown.

  7. Immediately transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.

  8. Decorate cooled cookies with desired toppings such as melted almond bark or sprinkles.
