Colombian Buñuelos
Crispy Colombian buñuelos, a traditional holiday treat, are prepared by frying dough and coating it in a sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Instructions

Combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish for the topping.

Sift flour and baking powder.

Cream sugar and oil or butter; then mix in egg, milk, and masa harina.

Gradually add sifted flour mixture, mixing until dough forms.

Form dough into 1 1/2-inch spheres or flat cakes.

Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan.

Fry dough forms 6-7 minutes until golden brown, turning as needed.

Drain fried buñuelos on paper towels.

Toss hot buñuelos in the sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat.
