Classic Southern Skillet-Fried Corn

Instructions

  1. Remove corn kernels from cobs.

  2. Heat bacon fat or butter in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, reducing to medium-low if using butter to prevent burning.

  3. Add corn to the hot fat and cook, stirring frequently, until browned, approximately 10 to 20 minutes.

  4. Stir in salt, pepper, and sugar; cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, to caramelize the sugar.

  5. Serve hot.
