Classic Italian-American Shrimp Scampi

A classic shrimp scampi makes a quick, flavorful meal, excellent when served with pasta or crusty bread.

Instructions

  1. Start boiling salted water for pasta.

  2. Heat a large saute pan over high heat. Slice garlic thinly.

  3. Add butter and olive oil to the saute pan. Sauté garlic for 1 minute without burning, then stir in red pepper flakes.

  4. Add pasta to the boiling water.

  5. Pour white wine and a pinch of salt into the saute pan; boil vigorously for 2 to 3 minutes.

  6. Add shrimp to the pan. Cook over high heat for 2 to 3 minutes, then turn the shrimp.

  7. Stir in parsley and black pepper; cook for 1 more minute, then mix well and turn off the heat.

  8. Drain the cooked pasta.

  9. Add lemon juice to the scampi, then combine with the pasta and serve immediately. If serving with bread, pour scampi into a bowl.
