Classic Date Nut Bread

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

Pour boiling water over chopped dates in a medium bowl, add butter, and set aside.

In a large bowl, beat sugar, brown sugar, and egg until light.

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.

Alternately add the flour mixture and the date-water mixture to the sugar mixture.

Stir in chopped nuts.

Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
