Classic Coconut Dream Bars
These 'dream bars' feature a shortbread crust generously topped with coconut, pecans, or walnuts, and optional mini chocolate chips.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Beat butter, brown sugar, and flour together until combined, then press the mixture into an ungreased 9x13-inch baking pan.

Bake the crust for 15 minutes, then cool it at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes while keeping the oven on.

Beat eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, flour, and baking powder until smooth; then stir in coconut, pecans, and optional chocolate chips.

Spread this filling over the cooled crust and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.

Remove the bars and allow them to cool completely before cutting.
