Citrus-Flavored Margarita Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 F.

  2. Zest limes and oranges to obtain approximately two tablespoons of each.

  3. Spread the zest on parchment paper in a baking tray; dry in the oven for 5 minutes, toss, and dry for 3 to 5 additional minutes if necessary. Cool, then finely dice the zest.

  4. Combine kosher salt, sea salt, optional sugar, and dried zest in a bowl; mix thoroughly.

  5. Store in a tightly sealed jar at room temperature for up to six months.

  6. To serve, wet a glass rim with a citrus wedge, roll it in the salt, and tap off any excess.

  7. Prepare and strain your cocktail into the rimmed glass.
