Citrus-Flavored Margarita Salt
A homemade margarita salt blend features bright lime and orange zest, with an option to add chile powder for a spicy kick.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 300 F.

Zest limes and oranges to obtain approximately two tablespoons of each.

Spread the zest on parchment paper in a baking tray; dry in the oven for 5 minutes, toss, and dry for 3 to 5 additional minutes if necessary. Cool, then finely dice the zest.

Combine kosher salt, sea salt, optional sugar, and dried zest in a bowl; mix thoroughly.

Store in a tightly sealed jar at room temperature for up to six months.

To serve, wet a glass rim with a citrus wedge, roll it in the salt, and tap off any excess.

Prepare and strain your cocktail into the rimmed glass.
