Christmas Brandy Sauce

Instructions

  1. Melt 4 tablespoons unsalted butter in a medium nonstick saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Stir in 1/2 cup all-purpose flour to form a smooth paste, then cook for 1 minute.

  3. Slowly whisk in 2 cups milk until a thick, smooth sauce forms, approximately 3-5 minutes.

  4. Add 4 1/2 tablespoons sugar, whisking until dissolved. Reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. Stir in 5 tablespoons brandy or cognac.

  6. Optionally, add an extra drop of brandy before serving, then serve over pudding slices.
