Chocolate Turrón Recipe

A delightful chocolate turrón combines melted chocolate with chopped almonds and puffed rice for a simple dessert.

Instructions

  1. Break baking and dark chocolate into pieces.

  2. Place chocolate with one tablespoon of water in a glass bowl, microwave for 1.5 minutes, then stir; continue microwaving in 30-second intervals until fully melted.

  3. Stir vegetable shortening into the melted chocolate until blended.

  4. Fold in the puffed rice and almonds.

  5. Spread the mixture into a 5x7 inch mold, cover, and refrigerate for at least 6 hours.

  6. Loosen the chilled turrón from the mold with a knife, turn onto a plate, and cut into 1/4-inch thick slices.
