Chocolate Fudge Brownies

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Melt 1 1/4 cups butter or margarine with 3/4 cup cocoa, mixing well.

Stir 2 cups sugar into the melted mixture, then beat in 4 eggs one at a time, followed by 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

Fold in 1 1/2 cups flour and optional chopped nuts until just combined.

Pour the batter into a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan and bake for 30 minutes.

Cool the brownies on a rack for 20 to 30 minutes, then cut into 20 square pieces when fully cooled.
