Chocolate Bitters Recipe
Homemade chocolate bitters provide a spiced cocoa snap for cocktails and other beverages.

Combine whiskey, cacao nibs, split vanilla bean, cinnamon stick, gentian root, wild cherry bark, cardamom pods, and wormwood (if using) in a quart-sized jar.

Seal and shake the mixture, then infuse for two weeks in a cool, dark place, shaking daily.

Strain out the botanicals through a cheesecloth-lined fine-mesh strainer.

Stir in the citric acid until it dissolves completely.

Bottle the finished bitters in small, tightly sealed jars and store at room temperature.
