Chinese Bow Tie Dessert With Honey and Brown Sugar

Instructions

  1. Start heating oil in a wok for deep-frying and combine syrup ingredients in a pot to boil.

  2. Cut each egg roll wrapper into four equal strips, about 5 1/2 inches by 1 1/8 inches.

  3. Make a 1/2-inch slit in the center of each strip.

  4. Using two strips, one laid on top of the other, form a bow tie knot by threading the ends through the slit, then open the folded ends.

  5. Deep-fry the bow ties in the heated oil, about 5 at a time, until golden brown; drain them.

  6. Boil the syrup ingredients on medium heat for approximately 5 minutes.

  7. Dip the fried bow ties into the boiling syrup, then drain thoroughly.

  8. Set the bow ties aside to harden, then serve cold.
