Chilled Japanese Okra Salad
A refreshing Japanese okra salad is prepared by cooking and chilling okra, then serving it garnished with dried bonito flakes and soy sauce.

Instructions

Start boiling water.

Wash okra, keeping stems intact.

Once water boils, cook okra for 4 to 10 minutes until tender.

Drain the cooked okra and plunge it into an ice bath to stop cooking.

Remove stems from the chilled okra, then slice horizontally.

Arrange the sliced okra in serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.

Before serving, top with dried bonito flakes and provide with soy sauce or a preferred seasoned soy sauce.
