Chicken Sausage and Tortellini Skillet Pasta Bake

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.

  2. Combine ricotta, chopped basil, grated garlic, salt, and pepper in a small bowl; set aside.

  3. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Cook uncased chicken sausage, breaking it apart, until browned (about 5 minutes).

  4. Stir in marinara sauce and water, bringing to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium, then stir in cheese tortellini and cook until plump (2 to 3 minutes).

  5. Gradually stir in baby spinach, one handful at a time, until wilted (about 3 minutes). Remove the skillet from heat.

  6. Dollop the reserved ricotta mixture over the tortellini and sausage. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese around the ricotta dollops.

  7. Bake the skillet for 10 minutes until the cheese is melted. Broil for 2 to 3 minutes until lightly browned.

  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving, garnished with fresh basil.
