Chicken Pepperoni Bake: Pizza in a Casserole

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Pound chicken breasts to 1/2 inch thickness.

Combine breadcrumbs, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

Coat chicken breasts thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.

Heat olive oil in a shallow skillet over medium-high heat.

Sauté breaded chicken in olive oil for approximately 4 minutes per side until browned.

Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish.

In a saucepan, combine tomatoes, sugar, oregano, basil, and garlic powder.

Cook this sauce over medium heat for 10 minutes, then season with salt and pepper.

Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken in the baking dish.

Top each chicken breast with pepperoni slices and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
