Chicken a la King Casserole With Noodles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F and butter a 2-quart baking dish.

  2. Boil 2 to 2 1/2 quarts of salted water, then cook noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside in a large bowl.

  3. In the same saucepan, simmer celery with condensed soup and evaporated milk for 5-7 minutes.

  4. Stir in pimientos, diced cooked chicken, and cheese until melted.

  5. Combine the sauce with the cooked noodles in the large bowl.

  6. Transfer the noodle mixture to the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with almonds, if using.

  7. Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and evenly sprinkle over the casserole.

  8. Bake for 25-35 minutes until the topping is browned.
