Preheat the oven to 350 F and grease a 10x15x1-inch baking pan with unsalted butter.

In a mixer, beat 1 cup unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Gradually add eggs, salt, vanilla, and almond extract, beating until smooth after each addition.

Slowly add flour and beat on low speed until combined.

Spread 3 cups of batter into the greased pan, then layer with cherry filling.

Drop the remaining batter evenly over the cherry filling.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until firm and light brown, then cool completely on a rack.

For the glaze, combine confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and 2 tablespoons milk; stir until smooth, adding remaining 1/2 tablespoon milk if needed.
