Cherry Bourbon Compote

Instructions

  1. Combine cherries, sugar, bourbon, water, honey, and ginger in a nonreactive saucepan.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

  3. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for approximately 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cherries soften and the liquid thickens.

  4. Let the compote cool slightly before serving warm or at room temperature, or store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
