Cheeseburger Casserole Recipe

A comforting casserole combines seasoned ground beef, cheese, and tater tots, mimicking a classic cheeseburger served with a side of mustard for dipping.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.

  2. Heat oil in an oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat.

  3. Add ground beef and onion; cook until meat is browned and onion is translucent, about 8 minutes.

  4. Drain fat.

  5. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in tomato paste, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

  6. Add flour and cook, stirring, until thickened, about 3 minutes.

  7. Stir in Worcestershire, beef broth, and tomatoes until combined, about 2 minutes.

  8. Stir in half the shredded cheese until melted, about 2 minutes. Adjust seasoning.

  9. Arrange tater tots in a single layer over the mixture.

  10. Bake for 30 minutes, until tater tots are golden and mixture bubbles.

  11. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and bake 5 more minutes, until golden and bubbling.

  12. Garnish with parsley and salt. Serve with mustard.
