Candy Apples Recipe

Homemade cinnamon candy apples feature tart apples encased in a crunchy, sweet cinnamon coating.

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Wash and thoroughly dry apples, then remove stems and insert skewers.

  2. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and hot water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.

  3. Cook without stirring until the mixture reaches 250 F, occasionally wiping the pan sides with a wet pastry brush to prevent crystallization.

  4. At 250 F, add cinnamon candies and stir until melted. Continue cooking, wiping pan sides, until the mixture reaches 285 F.

  5. Remove the pan from heat, stir until smooth, and immediately dip apples one by one. Coat each apple completely, twirl to remove excess, and place on the prepared baking sheet.

  6. Allow the candy apples to cool at room temperature before serving.
