Candied Bacon Cracker Bites

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 F and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and a wire rack.

  2. Combine 4 ounces softened cream cheese with the zest and juice (to taste) from one orange in a medium bowl, then stir until well combined.

  3. Dollop about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture onto the salted side of each cracker and top with a date half.

  4. Lay a piece of bacon over each cracker, place them on the prepared rack, and sprinkle each with approximately 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar.

  5. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until the bacon is crisp and glazed with the sugar.

  6. Cool for at least 5 minutes, or until the caramelized sugar has hardened and they are cool enough to handle.
