Cabbage au Gratin With Cheddar Cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a skillet; add crackers and dill. Sauté until lightly browned and set aside.

  3. Boil chopped cabbage in about one inch of water in a large saucepan for 12 minutes, or until tender. Drain well and transfer to an 8-inch-square baking dish.

  4. In the same saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat. Stir in flour for 1 to 2 minutes until blended, then slowly add milk, stirring constantly.

  5. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and boils. Add pepper, pimiento, and shredded cheese; stir until melted.

  6. Pour the cheese sauce over the cabbage and stir to combine.

  7. Top with the reserved cracker crumbs.

  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until bubbly.
