Cabbage au Gratin With Cheddar Cheese

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a skillet; add crackers and dill. Sauté until lightly browned and set aside.

Boil chopped cabbage in about one inch of water in a large saucepan for 12 minutes, or until tender. Drain well and transfer to an 8-inch-square baking dish.

In the same saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat. Stir in flour for 1 to 2 minutes until blended, then slowly add milk, stirring constantly.

Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and boils. Add pepper, pimiento, and shredded cheese; stir until melted.

Pour the cheese sauce over the cabbage and stir to combine.

Top with the reserved cracker crumbs.
