Butter Rum Cookies
Buttery cookies are infused with rum, vanilla, and almond, then topped with a sweet orange zest mixture.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350F and lightly grease 2 to 3 cookie sheets.

Cream butter with 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg yolks, extracts, and rum.

Gradually add flour while mixing, kneading the dough by hand until smooth.

Shape the dough into 1 1/2-inch logs, wrap them, and chill for at least 6 hours.

Cut the chilled logs into 1/4-inch slices and roll each slice into a ball.

Combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar with orange zest on a plate; roll the cookie balls in this mixture.

Place cookies on the prepared sheets and flatten each with a sugar-dipped glass.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
