Bread Machine Honey Buttermilk Bread

Preheat the oven to 375 F.

Combine yeast, flour, salt, buttermilk, butter, honey, and water in the bread machine, following manufacturer-specified order.

Select a basic or white bread program with a light or medium crust setting, then run the dough cycle.

To form a loaf: Shape the dough into a loaf, transfer it to a greased baking sheet or loaf pan, then brush with an egg wash made from 1 egg white and 2 teaspoons of water; optionally, sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until it sounds hollow when tapped.

To make rolls: After the dough cycle, knead the dough again, adding flour if needed to prevent stickiness. Form into rolls and allow them to rise until doubled in size. An optional egg wash and choice of seeds (sesame, poppy, or caraway) can be applied. Bake until lightly browned.
