Bread Machine Hamburger Buns
Bread machine makes simple work of preparing versatile homemade buns for burgers, sliders, or hot dogs.

Instructions

Add water, milk powder, flour, shortening, sugar, salt, and yeast to the bread machine, then set it to the dough cycle.

After the dough cycle, transfer the dough to a floured surface, punch it down, and knead 4-5 times, adding flour if needed to prevent sticking.

Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Grease a large baking sheet or line with parchment, then sprinkle with cornmeal.

Pat the dough into a circle, cut into 8 wedges, then form each wedge into a flattened ball slightly larger than a burger.

Arrange dough pieces 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet and let them rest for 20 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375 F.

Brush buns with egg wash; optionally sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.

Bake for about 18 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool before serving.
