Bread Machine Glazed Yeast Doughnuts

Yeast doughnuts, prepared in a bread machine, are finished with a rich, glossy chocolate icing.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the doughnut dough by adding all ingredients except oil to a bread machine following manufacturer instructions.

  2. After the kneading cycle, cover the dough and refrigerate overnight.

  3. On a floured surface, roll the dough to 1/2-inch thick, cut into doughnut shapes, then cover and let rise for 1 hour.

  4. Heat oil to 360 F and fry the doughnuts until light and browned.

  5. Cool fried doughnuts on a wire rack.

  6. For the chocolate glaze, melt butter in a saucepan, then stir in cocoa and water until thick.

  7. Remove from heat, then gradually whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth; add hot water if a thinner consistency is needed.

  8. Dip the top of cooled doughnuts into the chocolate glaze and place on a tray to set.
