Instructions

  1. Prepare the beans by trimming the ends, removing any strings, and rinsing them.

  2. Crush and peel the garlic, cutting larger cloves into halves or quarters.

  3. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat, then cook the garlic for about 2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.

  4. Add the rinsed beans, salt, and water to the pan; cover and simmer on medium-low heat for approximately 20 minutes until the beans are very tender.

  5. Remove the cover, increase heat to high, and cook, stirring occasionally, until any remaining water evaporates and the beans begin to brown slightly.

  6. Serve the braised beans hot, warm, or at room temperature, optionally garnished with fresh herbs.
