Braised Cabbage & Onions
A tender, sweet braised cabbage and onion side dish, ideal for fall and winter meals or as an accompaniment to corned beef.

Instructions

Trim the outer leaves and core from the cabbage.

Thinly slice the cabbage and onions.

Heat oil or butter in a large pot over medium-high heat; add salted onions and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.

Stir in the cabbage, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding water as needed to prevent sticking, until the vegetables are very tender and slightly caramelized.

Season to taste with salt before serving.
