Braised Belgian Endives
Sweet and tender braised Belgian endives can be prepared on the stovetop or in the oven.

Preheat oven to 375°F if using the oven method.

Heat a large pan over medium-low heat, add butter, and trim endives while it melts.

Arrange endives in a single layer in the pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice, salt, and optionally sugar. Add water along the pan's side.

Cover the pan tightly, using foil or parchment if needed for a secure seal.

Braise endives over low heat on the stovetop for about 30 minutes, or in the preheated 375°F oven for 30 to 40 minutes, until tender.

Uncover and cook over medium heat until any liquid evaporates and the endives are browned.
